Skil said it was a bad saw, so don't accept this saw if it runs rough with a blade. I contacted Skil and we went through the paces. It is not supposed to do this. The 30 day return policy is great, and the process with Amazon is very easy.My only problem now, is do I try this saw again, go for another brand, or just keep using my 7-1/4.not a good spot to be in when you get a lemon.Addendum:Was looking for another trim saw and came up with the Porter-Cable 345 SawBoss but it turns out it is having the same bearing problem, so don't get your hopes up for this one either.I just may have to spend the big bucks and go with a Makita. The saw is rough with blade installed (no matter who's blade or bushings). This says bearing problems to me.
From time of order til I got the saw was less than a week. I was really impressed with the price and the shipping. Great buy-I found the saw to be exactly what I wanted. The right size for those trim jobs where a larger saw is an over kill.
It cuts deep enough for most jobs and I see little use for my 71/2 inch saw. There was a part missing (the clamp tightner for bevel adjustment) but Amazon sent me another saw and paid the shipping back to them. This saw is well balanced and very powerful. Great service. After reading reviews about this saw, I chose to give it a try. My 61/2 inch saw that I am replacing quit on me so I needed to replace it.
It is very heavy duty, but small and light. I'd buy this saw again in a heartbeat.Sometimes Amazon sells these as reconditioned. This is my "go-to" saw. I like its steel ball bearing construction so I know it will last longer then me. They make for a great deal. It is much lighter and more maneuverable then my worm drive Skilsaw. I find myself reaching for this rather then my heavy worm drive skil because it is so capable.
That said, I wouldn't use this tool to cut 2 X 12s all day. I used to do this with my 18 pound skilsaw. I was able to find blades at Home Depot.
It has no trouble plowing through a 2 X 4. With this little guy, its a breeze.I've seen people complain that it won't cut a 2X at 45 degrees. I just used it yesterday to cut slots for 2 x 4s into a 4X post that was in the ground.
I really like this saw. But I've been using it on 1X, plywood (where it really excels, and 2x. Most of my 2X cuts are 90 degrees and if I need to cut 45 degrees, I'll dust off my worm drive.Bottom line: I am very pleased with this saw.
The power is more than adequate, far more powerful and comfortable than a battery saw. I think that would stress it.
